The mission of East Tenth is to provide a safe place where the spiritual, emotional, educational and physical needs of children, youth, and their families are responded to in a holistic approach.  East Tenth believes that all children deserve quality care and education regardless of socioeconomic status or a parent’s ability to pay. They have a sliding scale and donations go to help subsidize parent payments and provide scholarships for children to attend, which also allows parents to continue to work.

Statistics show that the children on the Near Eastside are faced with many challenges and East 10th offers a variety of programs to help meet their needs:

A before and after school program for 5-18 year olds. The center also provides care all day during intersessions, breaks, and some holidays. St. Mark’s Confirmation Class joined the children from E. 10th on Presidents’ Day and is also helping with their garden again.

Summer Days for Youth provides education, enrichment, and fun for children and youth ages 5-18. Older teens serve as Leaders in Training and Jr. Counselors. This summer, their theme is A Hero’s Journey. Each week, students will examine a heroic character trait through the lens of a fictional or real-life hero. They will participate in a series of academic enrichment activities and projects that delve into that hero’s story, culture and history.

Little Dove Daycare Certified Registered Ministry for children ages 5 weeks to 5 years old provides education and enrichment activities helping children become lifelong learners. Little Dove is currently a Level 3 Paths to Quality Provider and is working on Level 4 and National Accreditation.
All programs provide nutritious meals and snacks, education, enrichment, field trips, new experiences and fun!!!

During the month of April St. Mark’s is supporting E. Tenth with our financial gifts through the mission envelope in your Sunday bulletin, and by collecting 100% juice, cereal, paper towels, toilet paper, washable markers and construction paper. We also collect old and out-of-service cell phones and used inkjet and laser printer cartridges that are recycled for the center.
